For Please Tresspass, we have dug into the Open Music Archive to assemble 15 recordings by a range of collaborators who we invited to remix, re-version or cover out-of-copyright source material ripped from piano rolls, sheet music, shellac discs, vinyl singles and audio tapes. Each of these recordings is released under a copyleft license so, like their public domain archive sources, remains free for use and reuse in the future. The playlist explores the limits of ownership, contributes to the enrichment of the commons, and promotes an expanded usership of archives through access, copying, creative reassembly and redistribution.
