The Forest by Olsen Winter

The Forest is a song that we recorded in 2012. It took us many ours to record it, because it has a whole symphonic orchestra hidden inside. The song is written by Henrik Olsen and Petra de Winter. It's recorded in the Mosound studio in the Netherlands, by Marcel van Ling. Bass and guitars are played by Henrik Olsen, all vocals by Petra de Winter. Other instruments by Marcel van Ling. Except the drums, they are played by the great and famous Danish drummer Gert Smedegaard. The drums are recorded in the Focus Recording Studio in Denmark, near Hamlet's Castle, by Hans Nielsen. The arrangement and production is by Henrik, Petra and Marcel. The song was inspired by the atmosphere in the songs from Marie Fisker and her nordic collegues, the so called "Nordic Noir". Later on we found ourselves arranging a whole orchestra and gave it a Wagner-attitude too. The song starts very quiet and then slowly builts up towards a Wagnerian final. Mastered by Marcel van Ling in his Mosound Studio (in Holland). Artwork is made by "O".
Sometimes it reminds us a bit of work from the dutch producer/ composer/performer Kyteman, but in the end it's more like "slow food" ; "slow music" for the real music lovers that take their time listening to music and let it grow on you. This song is also very suitable as a soundtrack, under a movie or a ( fantasy-) game. It could easily replace parts of the soundtrack from movies like "The Lord of the Rings" . Some parts of the song are also inspired by Michael Nyman and Phillip Glass.
