I wrote this EP over the summer whilst scoring a soundtrack to a game. It was therapeutic and completely contrapuntal to the music I was composing, and I took the opportunity to make some really funky, shuffe-tastic and glitchy music, and Clusterfunk is the result. One of the aims of the EP was to use all of the gear and equipment I've used on my previous 80s themed offerings, but to move things forward and create something with a slightly more modern fidelity. I'd like to think I could have made 85% of this EP back in the 80s (with a ridiculous amount of bouncing and overdubs), but it was very refreshing from a production stand point. I often find modern production to be too rhythmically safe. I chose to challenge myself to skip beats and create non-formulaic twists to propel the tracks forward. The songs are largely built around edited live performances, to maximise the human feel and emphasise the aforementioned concepts of rhythm. Anyway, I hope you like it! - Robin http://www.twitter.com/ogresounds http://www.ogresound.co.uk/ 'Clusterfunk channels the musical aesthetics of 1980's funk and combines them with a modern musical fidelity. Produced with a variety of vintage analogue and digital synths and drum machines, Clusterfunk is an exploration of groove, syncopation and rhythmic anomalies - a journey down a musical road less travelled, inspired by the electro-swung rhythms of yester-decades.'
