Fly Away by orenlevine

My first song of this year's FAWM was part of my TorahTunes project. The song for Parashat Metzora is inspired by a passage in Leviticus/Vayikra 14:53 describing releasing a bird to carry away sin: "He shall set the live bird free outside the city in the open country." I started this one in January for my song-a-day challenge, and expanded it here with a second verse and bridge.

Lyrics
If my troubles were a bird
Could they fly away
They would fly away
Rise to the sky
I'd raise my head to watch
As they fly away
They would fly away
Leave me behind

The pain releases
Vision is clear
Some hope for the future
Begins to appear

If my troubles were a bird
Could they fly away
They would fly away

If my memories were a bird
Could they fly away
They would fly away
Rise to the sky
I'd stare into the clouds
As they fly away
They would fly away
Leave me behind

The fear releases
Weight falls away
The end of the film
On a constant replay

If my memories were a bird
Could they fly away
They would fly away

Soar 'til it's out of sight
Racing the sun into the night
Set on a course for wherever
And it never
looks back

If my troubles were a bird
Could they fly away
They would fly away
Rise to the sky
I'd raise my head to watch
As they fly away
They would fly away
