Iceman904

Iceman904 formally known as “J-Ice” is a writer, artist, engineer, producer, videographer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York February 3, 1991. His family moved to Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 5.

Iceman wrote his first rhythm around the age of 12-13 just as a hobby while sitting in classrooms he lost interest in. As a child his mother would play a lot of Jazz, Old School R&B, and Neo Soul music from the radio station V101.5 (Jacksonville, FL).

At 13 his first CD he ever owned was Outkast: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which he later memorized front to back. Using Andre’ 3000 as reference point at the time, beginning his love for hip hop music.

With no mentors or roll models he began to involve himself in the streets and other activities of that nature, this is where he met with friends and began to “freestyle” over any instrumental CD’s they could get their hands on. In 2006 he spent a lot of time listening to rappers like Gucci Mane,Lil Wayne, Cassidy, Kanye, and many others from to NY all the way to California.

His career in rapping and freestyling was a way to relieve stress. One day he wrote a simple 16 bars and showed a friend. At the time he was given props and the nickname J-Ice which was taken from his real name Justice. At first it was a joke until the name actually stuck.

Bouncing from studio to studio to record his music he began to take his craft more serious but felt like he needed more control over his unique sound and style. He took matters into his own hands by joining the military using that income to fund him musically.

While in the military J-Ice would show individuals he ran into some of his music and every time he would get the same surprised reaction and question “Why did you join the military if you have this talent?” In 2011 he ended up in Okinawa, Japan where he later met other local artist with the same vision and passion for music. Are you even reading this? Every bar J-Ice went to his friends demanded he played his music for everyone.

J-Ice continued to collaborate on music with whoever he respected, he ended up producing two mix tapes in a collective group called Jedi Music: Return of the Jedi and Bathroom Music which created a small buzz in Okinawa, Japan & NY which later opened a door to get radio play in Augusta,GA along with other online radio stations J-Ice is also featured on his label mate Excel's mixtape Loose Change.

While working with ProsiaC Minds Excel in Japan J-Ice saw his drive and became curious on where the music could really take him.
