When you feel stressed. Early in the morning. On a walk. On a trip (physical & spiritual). \n\nIt’s time to take a moment. This mix is an attempt to help you preserve a piece of sanity in the current chaotic state of this little rock. Look after yourself, take a moment.  \n\nPatrick is a Newcastle native and a long-time musical friend of ours. Pat is fully immersed in dance music, playing his combination of dreamy breaks, euphoric house and uk bass/garage for some amazing parties, most recently supporting Bklava for Ape-X’s Tuesday night Club Soda. He’s the brains behind @gone_wild_ , a gorgeous musical space that is dedicated to up and coming dance music. His radio show, of the same name, is live every first Sunday of the Month (or every 4 weeks) on @slacksradio. If you’ve missed them, you can catch all episodes of the show on Slack’s soundcloud. \n\nFrom a philosophical perspective (particularly in Buddhism, Taoism, traditional Eastern philosophy) calmness resonates as more than just a singular feeling. When we embody calmness, we allow ourselves to cope with the chaotic experience of existence, observing emotions as they rattle through our limited conscious. \n\nCalmness is the passive observation and wonderment of everyday life, noticing the details without becoming entrapped by them. It’s the realisation that consciousness is the viewing box of existence, not the existence itself, affording us time to relish in the joy of being alive. Music has always been a tool in this, present across countless cultures for as long as we have records. Certain types of music sooth the soul. Certain types of music draw you into serenity. Into peace. \n\nPat says that the mix aims to do just this, through a gentle musical meditation, filled with emotive arpeggios that allow you to transcend to a place of peace. The idea is to let the music wash over you and bring you internally present, so that when it finishes you may draw your attention back to the world with a sense of calmness and fulfilment. \n\nUnderstandably, “it’s quite a hippy concept”, Pat says, peace and love and all of that. However, early electronic music was driven by people heavily influenced by the flower power era, twisted into the mould of our metallic, technological age. The music reflects the era we live in and emphasises our need to escape from the trials of modern life. As a result, the mix is both expansive and minimalistic, indulging in some of the more melodic and romantic avenues of electronic music. \n\nIt’s opening track, porcelain by Moby, emphasises this desire for departure. It’s a gateway to leaving the mess of reality, distant from our everyday worries and stress. So come spend an hour of your Sunday on a voyage of sound, away from the hustle of your busy lives and enjoy just -being- for a few moments.","thumbnail_url":"https://i1.sndcdn.com/artworks-RwaWTqgNqP6xDNvX-aelx9A-t500x500.jpg","html":"<iframe width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" src=\"https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?visual=true&url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F1383950632&show_artwork=true\"></iframe>","author_name":"Interstellar Strut","author_url":"https://soundcloud.com/interstellarstrut"}
