"Tamarack & Pine" makes use of samples from a recording of the Shevchenko Musical Ensemble of Canada performing the choral oration; "A Feast of Thunder". [Lyrics by George Ryga, Music by Morris Surdin. Samples from the recording are used with permission.]
⦁ I attended this performance with my family which took place in the mid-1970s.
⦁ As I recall, this recording was made by my father on reel to reel tape. I think he had access to a sound board as my parents knew several of the members of the ensemble. The audio was transferred to cassette at some point over the decades and I came across it after my parents had passed away.
⦁ Although over 40 years ago, I still have vivid memories of attending this concert and listening to the actual recording brought back several more.

I thought it would be fun to use the recording as a source of samples on a Northfield Lenox track. This is the end product, but it might be a track that only makes sense to me....

The oration was divided into four movements: Birth, Youth, Manhood, and Death. Here are the lyrics of the samples used. . . . .
