Jet Jaguar - ii [disquiet0344] (free download) by Jet Jaguar (NZ) published on 2018-08-05T10:32:59Z This week's Disquiet Junto was to explore musical palindromes. I thought about trying to make harmonic palindromes, like chords that reflect on themselves, but it's not really how my music brain works. So I focused on stuff happening over time. The main structure of the track is a palindrome - when things fade in and out, etc. and when chords and melodic bits play. The bassline is a palindrome, and has a palindromic thing happening with the attack and decay on the envelope shifting in mirror image. The chord progession is a palindrome. Each drum part is a palindrome, some of which would line up perfectly if you notated the whole track out and flipped it down the middle, some of which don't work like that, but each loop does mirror down the middle, e.g. the kick drum is 4 bars of 5/4 while the main structure flips around 9 bars of 5/4. There's a plinky palindrome melody which also has a reversed reverb for the first half of the track and then a normal reverb for the second half.
