Non Musick Orange County, Peoples Republic of In 2004 I got my first laptop. A few months later I got my first music production software: Magix Music Maker 2005 deLuxe and it was all over after that and I have been making electronic music ever since. I mean I’ve always played guitar, but electronic music opened my eyes to all the other styles out there. Since then I have tried all sorts of programs: Acid, Fruity Loops, Garage Band, even Magix Music Maker 14 – but I always come back to the one that started it all for me: MMM 2005 deLuxe. My style is hard to define. I like what I like. If I could call it “sound art” I would. I am influenced by so much and I find inspiration in the oddest places. I am inspired by the sound of people driving by, rhythms of breathing, weather, static on the radio, water, and insects. I spent a few summer nights in rural Oklahoma and Missouri a few years back and there was nothing like it. From the constant, long, almost eternal rolls of thunder to the deafening crickets and cicadas – I must say it was like nothing I have ever heard before. As artists, I think we can become creatively selfish. Without new influence and inspiration our art tends to be homogenized. New ideas help us evolve.
