Celebrity Monk (disquiet0272) by noimspartacus published on 2017-03-17T22:27:36Z I opted to interpret the resonant frequencies of the Trappist planetary system as a polyrhythm. I started by programming a loop in Patterning where the length of each drum track was linked on the orbital ratios of the Trappist planetary system (3 beats, 4 beats, 6, 9, 15 and 24 beats.) I then programmed an six channel Numerology patch that triggered midi individual instruments. The timing of each pattern trigger was also in the same ratio as the planetary orbits. The patch was left to run on it's own and I just faded tracks in and out as the patterns phased and morphed. Disquiet Junto Project 0272: Exoplanetary Intervals The Assignment: Use music to express the relationships between planets. Step 1: You’re going to record a composition employing these ratios, as a scale or chord — or a polyrhythm for that matter — as a means to express a sense of these newly discovered planets. Keep this in mind. Step 2: Consider those intervals, play with them a bit, and think about how they can be employed to represent independent yet interdependent bodies in motion. Step 3: Review the information on the relative orbits of the TRAPPIST-1 planets here: http://www.ozonehouse.com/mark/dj/trappist.html Step 4: Create an original musical composition that explores the exoplanets’ relationships based on Steps 1, 2, and 3. Genre Electronic Comment by David M. Paganin I love the echoing squirmy sounds, ditto for those wonderfully hypnotic drums -- many thanks 2017-05-18T07:26:59Z Comment by Hypoid Nice choice of rhythmic pattern, I was torn on the strait four kick and ended up with three, ain't Patterning great! Great track with unanswered mysteries :-) 2017-03-21T02:48:30Z Comment by WÜST like the guitar sounds 2017-03-19T17:19:34Z Comment by rupertlally Nice work, it's got a really good atmospheric feel to it and I love the semi- generative way You ended up with the final result. 2017-03-19T09:29:43Z
