Solid Steel Radio Show 9/1/2015 Part 3 + 4 - Rita Maia by Ninja Tune

Our guest in Hour 2 is Rita Maia who hosts her weekly Saturday night show 'Sine of the Times' on the excellent Resonance FM and drops a mix with sounds from her native Lisbon and other exclusive unreleased bits. This is what she had to say;
"This Solid Steel mix, i wanted to include a lot of new sounds that have been circulating and mutating in a very underground circuit around Lisbon for the last 10 years, with influences of Kuduru, Tarracho and other things but very unique of that european city & definitely have a familiar feel.
I also think they have a similar feel to some of the UK sound and sound system culture, and having worked in projects in the outskirts of town before moving to London 12 years ago, it's special to play stuff that's made on such a diy way in times when everything is so predicted and polished in this industry. Most stuff is not even mastered properly but the rhythms are really quite obsessive. 

I get sent stuff since my show at London Resonance FM is syndicated there on a Friday night too via Radio Oxigenio. Other things are from digging online, most of it made by very young people who are doing their own thing and not bothered about sending it to anyone, so quite difficult to get.
Principe Label is doing a brilliant work to promote these sounds outside of the outskirts, some of the producers on the label in there are, Nigga Fox, Marfox & Maboku. 

Other things in the mix are by producers i've been playing loads in gigs like italian producer Khalab who recorded a mix for my show last year and Clap Clap, Emma, etc and some sounds from producers in south Africa and Mocambique, which are always close links to my home town where i grew up. "
