Solid Steel Radio Show 19/2/2016 Hour 2 - Krankbrother by Ninja Tune

Solid Steel in association with Serato (19th February) Our guests in Hour 2 are Krankbrother, who are brothers, DJ's, producers and run a label and monthly London party, which alongside Phonica Records is happening this weekend on 20th Feb at Fire, with our guest in Hour 1 Prins Thomas and previous guest Axel Boman. They had this to say about their mix;
"After both spending ages going through our record collections, we settled in for a listening session in our office behind our bar in East London. After playing each other a load of records and drinking a load of whiskey we realised two things. Firstly, that we had way too much music to fit on a mix, and secondly there was a lot of variety in what we’d chosen. A selector's curse made even worse by the fact there are two of us. So from there we tried to piece together as many of these records as we could whilst still allowing the mix to develop in a smooth organic way. We didn’t want the mix to jump around too erratically so we made a lot of edits to help it flow. The records we ended up choosing are a little bit of what we play and love from the last 40 years spanning acid, disco, new wave, afro beat, indie and techno. Despite the mix being quite retrospective, on a more personal level, the mix will always mark a very special moment in time for us. Shortly after we made our way to our homes from that very listening session, Kieran’s wife went into labour.  Off they went off to the hospital, Kieran on two hours sleep and a whiskey head and shortly after we welcomed yet another Clancy boy into the family.”
