An irresistible musical celebration and one of the most ingenious musical fusion concepts ever conceived - whatever you need, it’s there!
Kabir Sehgal - GRAMMY Award winner, bestselling author (NYC)
Africa is the mother of Jazz, música Cubana and much other South American/Caribbean music. In this new transatlantic adventure, CABOCUBAJAZZ goes further than ever before. Beautiful melodies and improvisations come together with Senegalese beats, Cape Verdean rhythms like Funana, Coladera and hard swinging Cuban music - creating once again an irresistible musical blend.
On 13 smoking tracks of CORASON AFRICANO, the listener and also the dancer is taken on a colorful journey where longing, passion, subtleness and hot musical fire alternate. Take for example Boy Gé's exclusively composed Africa tribute 'Corason Africano' or the exuberant 'Boas Festas', a musical party: each piece celebrates the overwhelming magic of African music.
Composers include legends like Boy Gé, Eugénio Tavares, Mendes Brothers,
Horace Silver and the band members.
Nils Fischer (one of Europe's top percussionists) and Cape Verdean master-pianist Carlos Matos started the journey of CaboCubaJazz. Their best musical friends joined immediately: singers Dina Medina (Cape Verde) and Alberto Caicedo (Colombia) are a perfect match. The dream team is completed by stellar musicians: Yerman Aponte from Venezuela on bass, Cuban drummer Armando Vidal, trombonist Pablo Martínez (Spain) and Puerto Rican trumpet ace Joe Rivera.
The production is topped off by the participation of guests from aa. Mastered by legendary Bob Katz in Florida.
