She was one of Iran's most influential female poets of the twentieth century and an iconoclast, writing from a female point of view. This poem, translated by Dr. Ahmad Karimi-Hakkak, is chosen from her book “Another Birth”. The prelude and postlude by piano are very depictive with descending motion to the low register while the interlude between the two sections and immediately after the line “and out of the deep of night I speak”, has an extremely passionate ascending motion to the high register. Texture, dynamic, and use of the dissonance intervals are all thoughtfully chosen to illustrate the poem and present meaningful word paintings.
