Athene noctuae by nikos ioakeim published on 2013-03-29T17:15:41Z Written in 2009. The title stands for "the owls of (the goddess) Athena"; it is thus the scientific name of Little Owl, a species well-known in warm climates for its querulous, almost enigmatic call. Athene noctuae is the distillation and transmutation of an all night-long owls' recital. It carries no message; it is a mere state of things. The human element is restricted to the role of the observer, who’s haunted by his 'mémoire du monde' – be it just a melodic fragment. At the two pianos the piano-duo Aurea (Katerina Konstantourou & Vanessa Pons Placer). Utrechts Conservatorium, May 28th 2009. Revamped & choreographed in 2012 as part of Danser à quatre mains.
