Hummingbird by BPZ is proud to present the debut album by Fork-Tailed Woodnymph, entitled “Invasive Specie”, which is the latest project by the label founder, Benjamin Philippe Zulauf. The six track LP will be available in digital format exclusively, presenting to you a wholesome body of work oozing with class and ethereal textures that simply melt in your mind. Utilising the power of music to spread a conscious message which should resonate with each and every one of us. The album has been a two year project, an idea that took shape and grew from some sessions experimenting with ethnic percussion and instrument sounds such as the Djembe, Hang Drum, Gourd, Marimbula and Saz, combining them with electronic synths and drum machines. The label founder showcases his versatility once more, with another personal and meaningful encounter. Opening track “Grasslands” is a masterclass of atmospheric ambient, effortlessly massaging your mind as the deep synths float past, taking full control of your emotion. Nudging your thought processes to constantly evolve. “Black Tar Sand'' paints a dreamy environment for the listener, seducing you into a state of tranquility, as all elements converse in perfect harmony. The third of the pack, “Resistance” delivers a loungey groove with its pensive drum work, and otherworldly pads, you can feel the passion that has been poured into the track. Title track, “Invasive Specie” summarises the ideas and subliminal meaning of the release, the broken drums representing the confused society of today and the mysterious tones that lay before you representing the many issues we must address. “In Memory Of A Rainforest” leads you down a rocky road of twisted melodies which meld into the steady drum, with the percussion breathing life into the track. Closing this carefully crafted and cinematic experience is “Plasitfication Personification”, a charming track that simmers gently, constantly evolving, provoking your mind to dig that bit deeper, and outside of the box. The theme of the “Invasive Specie” album takes inspiration directly from the current state of the planet and the negative impact humans are having with it. While the world may be distracted by a global pandemic, it is important to not ignore the serious situation our generation finds itself in and how little time we may have to turn things around for the better.
