Port Louis, Mauritius
Coming from the little island of Mauritius situated in the Indian Ocean, young Nicolas Strands (of real name Nicolas Mannoo) has started sneaking into the musical world since his childhood, being greatly inspired by his parents (being musicians and singers). Then, at the age of 13, Nicolas discovered electronic music and became curious about the fact that such music could be easily made from his own computer. He then started learning music production, by his own, without any tutorials, and any mentor.
In 2009, after having learnt all the main basics, Nicolas met AnTiTo, a French teenaged producer who was making similar music as him. Together, they made several bootlegs of various artists like Owl City & Selena Gomez, just to name a few.
Later in 2010, the duo was noticed and signed by an Indie Label, Harkee Records and released their first EP, Wonky Funck. With this first EP, particularly the remix by Mahesa Utara (an upcoming Indonesian producer), they made it to the Beatport Charts (23rd in the Top 100 Electro House Tracks) and got played by several DJs, like Laidback Luke, Steve Aoki, Sidney Samson, Angger Dimas, Afrojack & Mr. Oizo, which helped in making them a name.
In the same year, Nicolas had the chance to meet and work with several promising artists such as Sulto, Gianni Marino, Revero, Moska & Mr. Vega (half of the duo Sazon Booya).
2011 was quite a calm year for Nicolas, as he decided to pause the production to concentrate on his studies. However, he still made some great tracks, such as some collaborations with his new pals, Jordan Ferrer (as MindWash), Herve Pagez, Adam1Time & last but not least, the Phoenix Bros. He managed to receive support from David Guetta on his remix for JSK's "Once Again" and discovered himself as a great ghost-producer. He worked with Adam1Time on the Skyscrapers album, which is to be released in 2012.
A lot more is ahead of Mr. Strands ... so stay tuned. :)
