The new album DISRUPT THE SCENE available now on CD, Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, Deezer, & Rdio!
New York-based EDM producer, Neorev, delivers Disrupt the Scene, his first physical album in six years, which features tracks originally released on several now out-of-print digital-only EPs, along with new material, combining elements of dubstep, electro-pop, dance industrial and hip-hop into a singular vision.
The album title is entirely accurate. By collaborating with artists from normally fragmented scenes, Neorev causes disruption with a cyber-revolution of unity, a statement that we all stand together as one against the negative elements in our lives. Here, the electro-pop of It Was July sounds right at home beside Noise Generator’s brutal industrial reggae assault, while numerous rappers, including Marcuss, Centri, Argotec, Villain and Kid Versus Chemical, bring their distinct flows to Neorev’s crushing dubstep, aggressive drum’n’bass and fuzzy hip-hop creations. It’s the hedonistic celebration of techno-punks who see positivity beyond today’s chaotic turmoil.
Neorev began in 2008 when Michael Matteo, a drummer for several alternative rock bands, put down his sticks to pursue a different direction that would push his foundation of rock beats and structures further into unknown territories, while also challenging him as a musician. His first album, 2009’s Lines & Shapes, saw him successfully transfer his ideas to recording, but it was the dirty dubstep-inspired onslaught of Children of the Bomb in 2011 that marked him as a cyberpunk pioneer. A steady succession of EPs based on songs from Bomb followed, each containing an album’s worth of remixes and collaborations. Finally, on 2014’s “So Twisted” EP, Neorev strayed further out of his comfort zone into hip-hop, proving once and for all his versatility as a producer and musician. Now, Disrupt the Scene brings these elements together into physical form for the first time, marking a new era of Neorev in an electronic future.
The official site is now online...
This is the sound of empty city streets at night, where rats run rampant and the silhouettes in the shadows are either muggers out to get you or twisted figments of your imagination. These are the dirty, grimy, sleazy sounds of cyberpunk incarnate.
It’s a lead-fisted punch in the face to bland electronica everywhere.
