BIOGRAPHY
NEEDSHES is the alt/rock band founded by prolific singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Otabek Salamov originally from Tashkent (UZ). With a musically diverse experience in mind, he conceptualized the ideology of NEEDSHES in 2013. Bek encapsulates his art for composing bluesy story-telling songs with love ballads infused with swagger punk and suffocating alt-rock tints. Someone once described them as a balancing act between the moody vibe of The Neighbourhood, with dainty anthems reminiscent of The Killers, a bit of the oddball nature of Jack White, and the heartbreaking ballad skillset of Coldplay.
Bek attended the music academy where he was awarded the first price for his precision on clarinet. As a teen, his interests varied, and he was drawn to compose metalcore. One day he decided to dilute it with melodic undertones. Soon he realized that the switch was something that gravitated to his liking. He decided to create a new project. Bek gathered a traditional rock band line-up. His biggest influences stemmed from James Brown, David Bowie, Queen, The Killers, Jack White, RHCP, U2, a-ha, Coldplay. In 2016 after several line-up changes, Ivan Petukhov (guitar) and Alexey Manakhov (drums) joined his team and made it possible for the sound created in the studio to fully sound live.
Since conception, they have topped the Apple Music charts with songs "Time to See," "Anything You Want" which have been featured in international movies (Break ‘19) and TV ads (Lay's, Renault). “Time to See” has won the Unsigned Only 2017 contest in Rock genre. Having supported You Me At Six live and performed at the FIFA World Cup Fan Festival, NEEDSHES have garnered support from idobi Radio (heavy rotation), Indiemono, Alt Press, PopMatters, Substream Magazine, BBC Radio 6 Music, and KUTX Radio.
In 2019 they released the third album “Truth Power”. The experimental rock single "Pain" from the album was featured in the interactive thriller She Sees Red ‘19.
In 2020 they won the Independent Music Awards (Song Used in Ad Campaign) with their single "Unbelievable" which became a musical theme for the Lay's TV Ad campaign in 32 European countries for the whole year 2020.
