NAVI started writing music and performing when she was 12, in her native town Oradea, in Romania. She has worked as a songwriter and lyricist for famous Romanian artists like Morandi, Hotel FM, Anca Florescu, Bijou, VAIDA, Foișorul de Foc, Aurelian Temișan, Roxana Nemeș, Julie Mayaya, Mihai Toma & Passione and many more.
From 2008 to 2012, she recorded and performed alongside guitarist Alec Șandor as “Alexandra & Alec”. They released three singles accompanied by music videos (“La cafea”, “Bad Day” and “In Noapte”) and appeared in hundreds of live gigs. In 2009 they released the “Little Dreams” EP, featuring 9 original songs written by them and produced by Edward Maya, NMC and Vali Rotari.
In 2011, NAVI co-wrote the lyrics for “Change“, the song that represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Festival, alongside Gabriel Băruța.
After a lot of time spent in the studio writing for other artists, NAVI decided it was time for a new stage in her career, coming back into spotlight with a darker, indie-pop style, a new vision and a conceptual album in the works.
In 2014, NAVI released “Picture Perfect“, dubbed by the Romanian press “the most shocking video in pop”. The power ballad’s video is essentially a short film directed by NMC, depicting explicit BDSM and Shibari (Japanese bondage) scenes and has since gathered a strong following in the S&m community.
In 2015, the singer released “The Burning Process“and “Eyes Wide Shut”, singles composed by her and Marian Nica and accompanied by music videos. “Eyes Wide Shut” garnered extremely positive reviews from music journalists and bloggers in Romania and abroad.
In 2017, NAVI signed a recording contract with the prestigious Romanian record label Electrecord, for her debut album “Songbird”.
NAVI has been an official endorser for Audio-Technica since 2011.
