Nautilus Brass Nautilus Brass Firmly committed to the creation and performance of new works for brass instruments, the NBQ has premiered 23 compositions written for the ensemble since its founding in 2010. From the outset, NBQ has maintained an open call for scores and worked with cultivation partners including New York City’s Vox Novus and the Women Composers Festival of Hartford resulting in numerous new compositions for brass quintet. NBQ has held academic residencies such as the Paul C. Richards and Gladys Richards Fellowship at the University of Connecticut; the Ossen Fund for the Arts in Windham, Connecticut; and San Jose State University’s Summer in the City Camp; as well as advanced in competition at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition in Columbia, MO; Concours International de Music de Chambre in Lyon, France; and the International Jan Koetsier Competition in Munich, Germany.
