Nancy Cunningham

New Year's Day 2019 I decided to learn to write songs. Most of my New Year's Resolutions tucker out by February, but this one has hung in there. I love the way a song can light a match and illuminate a story or a feeling or a character. I'm especially drawn to Americana or Country Songs.

I like the advice that my mom told me that Radney Foster told her that Willie Nelson told him: write five songs every week, the first hundred don't count.

I love that idea that I can write all the songs I want.

In 2020 when the world moved on-line, one thing led to another, and I started exploring writing with other people. Co-writing is it's own miraculous thing. I've gotten to write with friends in California, Colorado, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and in England, Finland, and Germany.

In 2022 I did the February Album Writing Month (fawm.org) and met a whole world of musicians and writers all eager to write and play and listen. Summer of 2022 is the FAWM 50/90 (fiftynine.fawm.org).
