Mystic River Chorale

The Mystic River Chorale is an independent, not-for-profit community chorus founded in 1984. The Chorale consists of singers ages 16 to 94, drawn from throughout Eastern Connecticut. Presenting a mixture of major choral-orchestral repertoire and a wide variety of serious and lighter music for chorus alone, the Chorale's concerts seek to engage and inspire. The Chorale has toured Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and France, has given the regional premieres of several pieces, and has commissioned three pieces, one by Alice Parker. The Chorale’s Artistic Director from 2008 to 2021, Frank Martignetti, was a national finalist for the 2015 American Prize in conducting for his work with the Chorale. In the past dozen years, the Chorale has broadened its community outreach, received competitive grants, collaborated with area high school choirs and other area ensembles, had singers make their Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall debuts, and presented new and neglected works, including grant-funded regional premieres.
