Chloe - Low(Fairmont Remix) by My Favorite Robot Records published on 2013/11/04 17:47:19 +0000 French producer Chloe you will know from releasing killer cuts on Live at Robert Johnson, Throne of Blood, BPitch Control as well as serving up hot DJ sets and mix compilations at clubs like Rex in Paris and for labels like Kill The DJ. Her style effortlessly moves from dark to sensual and back again and that’s evident once more on this new EP for My Favorite Robot Records complete with a remix from label friends Fairmont. It follows on from two previous superb remixes on the label including one of Art Department’s Jonny White back in 2010. First up, ‘Low’ is a solid and quick licked groove with a raw and serrated bass. Libidinous vocal sounds add a sultry human element and glowing pads bring some light to the noir textures in the latter part and the infectious groove bounces on. Label stalwart Fairmont gets to remix the track and makes it a more hurried and paranoid affair with watery droplets, scraping pads and a haunting industrial vibe pervading the whole thing. Synths spray about like sirens during a storm and make for truly involving listening. Chloe’s next cut ‘Last Gasp’ is a slower and more spaced out affair with gentle and subtle little glassy melodies flowing across a rubbery kick drum and deft percussion. One for the dead of night it’s beautifully melancholic and curiously musical. Finally, ‘Turn It’ ups the ante once more. It’s another tight arrangement of rubbery drums and more metallic percussion that all glide along in a fat groove and evoke images of a deserted metropolis during the darkest night hours. Part house, part electro, this is a fantastic EP from Chloe that manages to be emotionally honest at the same time as being hugely physical and perfectly suited to the dancefloor.
