Cato

Recording artist, film/television composer and remixer Cato got started by tweaking modular synthesizers and early digital yet analog-filtered synths, inspired by artists like Tangerine Dream and Cabaret Voltaire, becoming an expert in this while composing electronic music ranging from experimental to pop. Soon Cato found himself scoring prime time national television and documentary films in his native country of Norway, before relocating to LA in pursuit of bigger musical challenges.

Since then Cato has written music for several feature films including "Stone" (starring Robert De Niro) and "Smokin' Aces" (starring Ryan Reynolds), and has tracks featured in numerous television shows including “Game Of Thrones”, "Dexter" and "Saturday Night Live". He wrote the score for the risky noir comedy "Mini's First Time" (dir. Nick Guthe, prod. Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti) as well as for several other award-winning feature films and documentaries (incl. "The Kennedy Detail” and “Semper Fi: One Marine’s Journey” for 3-time Oscar™ nominee Vince DiPersio and "Who Killed Johnny" for writer/director/actress Yangzom Brauen (NCIS: Los Angeles, Æon Flux).

Cato's artist projects (schwarzmodul, onecarreratwo, Circadian Delays) have seen him release music on Monkeytown Records (Berlin) and Track Number Records, Roundtrip Records (LA), collaborate and co-produce with artists like Robot Koch (Sphere), Eivør and Wendy Rae Fowler (Queens Of The Stone Age) and remixing a variety of artists including R.E.M., London Grammar, T.Rex and The Who with placements including "How To Get Away With Murder", "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" and "Need For Speed". Cato was the one chosen to reimagine the original “Blade Runner” score by Vangelis for "Blade Runner 2049" (for the entire trailer/promo campaign), in competition with several major artists. Constantly in high demand for major studio as well as indie movie trailers and commercials, Cato's unique music and sound design is featured in over 1,000 movie trailers including “Avengers: End Game”, “Ad Astra”, “The Irishman” and “Uncut Gems”, many of which are ‘miniature film scores’ going way beyond typical ‘trailer music’, as well as in commercials including Ford and General Motors.
