1-100-10 (disquiet300) by MtnViewMark-Bits published on 2017-10-01T02:33:28Z Celebrating "round" numbers, like 300, is all about numerology. Hence, I used numbers as a basis for most aspects of the composition: I took the factors of 300 in the order 5, 5, 2, 3, 2, as semitone steps. This leads to a 7sus4 chord with the 5th in the bass. I took the root to be D, since D4 is closest to 300Hz. So my chord is D7sus4/A. I knew one instrument had to be my Serge modular, which would play one evolving chord for the duration. I played the du-Touch w/a marimba sample, playing the chord 100 times. Lastly, a digital piano, playing the chord 10 times. 1-100-10. One other thought: D7sus4 wants to resolve, but this occasion is not an end, just a mile marker for the Junto,. So it is fitting to have no resolution.... -=- More on this 300th weekly Disquiet Junto project (3 chords x 100 seconds) at: https://disquiet.com/0300/ More on the Disquiet Junto at: https://disquiet.com/junto/ Comment by halF unusuaL @mtnviewmark-bits excellent :-) 2017-10-04T20:52:23Z Comment by rupertlally @mtnviewmark-bits You lucky thing is all I can say. I'm slowly building the Random Source Serge modules for Eurorack - that's the closest I can get 2017-10-04T16:06:29Z Comment by MtnViewMark-Bits @half-unusual: She was annoyed that I'd plunked the keyboard down on the bed in the usual spot she slept... so she expressed her annoyance by sleeping through my entire working session. 2017-10-04T15:56:42Z Comment by MtnViewMark-Bits @337is: thanks! 2017-10-04T15:55:04Z Comment by MtnViewMark-Bits @rupertlally: thanks! I don't use the Serge much, but for about 5 years it was my main instrument once. 2017-10-04T15:54:52Z Comment by halF unusuaL Cool - like the cat too 2017-10-03T19:21:55Z Comment by rupertlally Love the piece and the process behind it.
