Atmospheric and instrumental guitar pop
This is a tribute to the unique and complex sounds of the guitar - electric, acoustic and everything in between. This group is for the more melodic and uplifting genre's of guitar instrumental music. Even black metal, grunge, acid and the other darkest genres publish great melodic tunes and ballads at times. Let's keep the groove pure!
Looking to listen to, and possibly collaborate with, other musicians, beat makers and multi-instrumentalists doing expressive, unique ideas in many forms.
sounds of experiment, collages, spoken word, fun, crime, sex.....whatever...::!

Heres a wonderful group on Last.fm http://www.last.fm/group/New++Weird++America
"The artists of New Weird America share an affinity with the outsiders of America's musical heritage. They draw inspiration from the sounds captured for posterity in Harry Smith's monumental Anthology of American Folk Music and from the uniquely British pastoral folk of artists such as Nick Drake, Vashti Bunyan and The Incredible String Band.
In seeking to create music that exists outside the corporate mainstream machinery this umbrella term also embraces Psych-Pop, Noise, Ambient Drone and Experimental Avant-Rock.
The artist connections for this group are predominantly American but do not preclude roots and branches from other nations.
Real music knows no boundaries."
"The musical style described as New Weird America is derived mainly from psychedelic rock and folk groups of the 1960s and 1970s, including American performers Holy Modal Rounders and English and Scottish groups, such as Pentangle, The Incredible String Band, Donovan, and Comus. It also finds inspiration in such disparate sources as heavy metal, free jazz, electronic music, noise music, various ethnic musics, musique concrete, tropicália, and early- and mid-20th century American folk music. Another primary inspiration is outsider music, often played by technically naïve and/or socially estranged musicians, such as The Shaggs, Roky Erickson, and Jandek. Other genre classifications with similar aesthetics are psychedelic rock, psych folk, freakbeat, and freak folk. The music has been covered extensively by L.A.-based Arthur, which ran in-depth pieces on Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, CocoRosie, Animal Collective, and Six Organs of Admittance, released the compilation The Golden Apples of the Sun, and curated the ArthurFest (2005) and ArthurBall (2006), featuring a variety of artists from the movement."
