MRNG (a.k.a. Mr. Nice Guy) is a live electronic music collaboration created by JR, David Hunter and Rafael Peñaloza.
Since 2009 they have already achieved much success in their musical careers, starting as a promotion company hosting dance music events across San Diego. After quickly building a reputation, they teamed up with San Diego’s leading event promoter, Eventvibe. With residencies at renowned venues like the House of Blues San Diego, Bassmnt Nightclub, Fluxx Nightclub & Hard Rock San Diego, they have been supporting acts for the world’s most popular DJ’s & producers. These include: Showtek, Borgore, Rusko, Nero, Steve Aoki, Crookers and Crizzly. They also performed on the Life in Color tour from 2011 to 2014 and Tiesto’s College Invasion Tour in 2012 and 2013. Not to mention, MRNG’s residency with Insomniac Events at Bassmnt nightclub since 2013 along with new bookings at Hakkasan Group’s iconic nightclub, Omnia, in San Diego, CA.
As producers, their name is no stranger to Beatport or the EDM blogosphere, either. The first MRNG Beatport release was with Dirty Duck Audio, in 2013. In 2015, their track entitled “Switch” climbed Beatport’s Hip-Hop charts to #25, surpassing artists like: Skrillex, Diplo, Yellow Claw, What So Not and UZ. Later that year they released “Phoenix,” which was featured by the web’s most popular dance music blog and record label, EDM.com. “Phoenix” climbed the Glitch-Hop charts to #37. In 2014, the group received acclaim for their smash-hit remix of Martin Garrix’s “Animals,” featured on blogs such as ThisSongSlaps.com, where it reached #1 spot on their charts. The group has been in the studio, tirelessly constructing a new EP, as well as a new single scheduled for release later this year. With new music releases coming this year, an upcoming tour and support from some of the biggest blogs and record labels, MRNG is quickly making a name for themselves.
