Gary C
Leeds
Hello. I'm Mr Gary C!
I write songs, sing and play acoustic guitar. My forte is well crafted and upbeat songs, which are full of hooks and are instantly memorable. My music has a retro 50's and 60's vibe.
I like to have fun with my music, but also take my music seriously. Before becoming Mr Gary C, I wrote a number of songs which were featured on MTV, Channel 4, a number of Sky TV channels (including Sky Sport, Channel U and Fizz TV), O’Neill and Ripcurl surfing DVDs, and computer games, as well as receiving daytime radio play on BBC and commercial stations across the UK, and stations in USA, Australia, Germany, Macedonia and South Africa.
I previously worked with an independent record label based in London, called The Junk Label, as an artist and songwriter. Whilst with The Junk Label, my song writing skills earned me UK Independent Chart and UK Commercial Club Chart top 10 hits. I've worked with a number of top producers and had versions of my songs remixed by the likes of Ode Hunte (Leona Lewis), Seed (Cascada) and Justin Harris (Acid House). My song writing credentials were recognised by the International Songwriters Association, who featured an in-depth interview with me in their worldwide magazine.
I love playing live and I've shared the bill Richard Hawley, The View, Pigeon Detectives, You Me At Six, Rose Royce, Corinne Bailey Rae, Tom Hingley (Inspiral carpets), Mungo Jerry, Chris Helme (Seahorses), Puressence and Black Lace (!) to name but a few.
I have self released solo EPs and singles, which have received great reviews, as well as airplay on the BBC Network, various independent, commercial, and internet stations. I have played a number of live radio sessions including BBC Raw Talent in Leeds and Hull, and my promo video for "A Little Bit Easier" and my series of HD Podcasts were all on showcased on the BBC Big Screens across Yorkshire.
