One Unguarded Moment (HC 2000) *Please click for description and lyrics. by Mountain Songs published on 2014/05/31 08:42:28 +0000 ONE UNGUARDED MOMENT Written by Terry Reeves, 1985 Recorded 1988 Remastered by Adrian Heathcote 2014 In all probability, the most important and meaningful song ever to be posted on the page. I'll let Terry explain why. (Gary Reeves) My brother Gary and I were at our Nan's bedside at the hospice when the medication kicked in and there was no more communication . I had never faced death before - it was my worst moment. This song is about that moment. When I first played it to my elder brother Brian he said it was the best song he had ever heard. That was good enough for me. We lost Brian in 2012 at the young age of 63 and his family asked permission to play it at his funeral which, of course, was my privilege. I wish there could have been many more unguarded moments with my Bri. (Terry Reeves) One unguarded moment I saw you cry Memories brought you to your knees A plea for life inside your head That unguarded moment I thought I saw you But the distance grows Body by inches Mind by a mile Mind by a mile One unguarded moment I heard you laugh No fear inside the noise Hearing sounds which need no sense That unguarded moment I thought I heard you But the distance grows Body by inches Mind by a mile Mind by the mile Middle Many guarded moments you pass me by All feelings inside your frame Words and meanings have lost their way Many guarded moments at least I see you But the distance grows Body by inches Mind by a mile Mind by a mile Terry Reeves: Vocals Brian Reeves: Guitar John Lancaster: Synths.
