Congressman Peter Roskam talks about getting things done in Washington by WBEZ's Morning Shift published on 2013/04/18 17:20:48 +0000 President Barack Obama called yesterday's inaction on major gun legislation as marking "a shameful day for Washington." The U.S. Senate failed to reach a 60 person majority on any of the that would have included increased background check measures - some of which Mr. Obama cited that 90 percent of Americans support. We speak with Congressman Peter Roskam, Republican representative for Illinois' sixth district about why he thinks the gun legislation failed, and if there's any future for it in Washington. Also on the agenda for legislators in Washington is major immigration reform. Mr. Roskam will be a part of that discussion in the House, and talks about his position on the proposed legislation.
