Molina Speaks is a critically acclaimed Poet, Producer, Performance Artist and Recording Artist. As a professional musician Molina has released 16 independent D-I-Y albums. He has been known by various artist names including Mo Brown and Molina Soleil. Influenced by artistic legends like Kid Frost, 2Pac, Nas, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Diego Rivera and Pablo Neruda, Molina Speaks is building his own prolific catalogue of music that spans the genres of rap, hip-hop, jazz, new jazz, spoken word, glitch and experimental. Respected music critics have discussed his work in the vein of impactful artists and social thinkers such as Gil Scott-Heron, The Roots, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky. Molina has shared the stage with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Saul Williams, De La Soul, Immortal Technique, Abiodun Oyewole of the Last Poets , Les Nubians, Allen Stone, Blue Scholars, Dead Prez, and more. Molina’s music has been featured in various films and documentaries, including Papers the Movie, a film about undocumented youth that has screened in all 50 states and influenced immigration reform policy. Molina Speaks is the Lead Teaching Artist for Youth On Record, a recent award recipient of the Future of Music Coalition in Washington D.C.
