New Orleans, LA
For those who don't know me, I spent several years in the club scene in the mid 90's through the early millennium and met tons of DJs - most of whom are still close friends. I decided to get my own equipment about four years ago, and since then, I've DJ'd at several bars and clubs in New Orleans, including: The Wherehouse, Jiggers, Shakers, and Southshore Tavern, as well as a few house parties with crowds as small as 40 people and as large as 100+ people.
I also co-hosted (with NuOrleanz Phatz) Gremlin Radio's first annual Gremlin Fest here in New Orleans, LA the weekend of Friday, July 12th & Saturday, July 13th. We had an incredible lineup of 20+ DJs with DJ Brad Smith (a/k/a Mr. Smith) headlining that Friday night and DJ Sharaz (a/k/a Dr. Evil) headlining that Saturday night.
We had a great turnout, and we are very happy to be such an integral part of a milestone in the breakbeat community: Gremlin Fest 2013 was to be the final old school breaks set for Brad Smith; the crowd turnout (and more importantly, the crowd response) was so electric, however, that Brad played an entire hour past his scheduled set and promised to return and play again in New Orleans! He later announced on fb that after careful consideration and meditation, he has decided to stay in the breakbeat game forever!
I always appreciate comments and/or input from other DJs who have been around longer than me. So hit me up in my Gremlin Radio Inbox, or leave messages in my Inbox and/or comments on my mixes on Sound Cloud to help me progress and take things to the next level!
I'm also a Resident DJ on Gremlin Radio, so check out "The Dope Show" LIVE on Saturdays 10:30am - 1:30pm (CST)
What You'll Hear On My Show:
I like MOSTLY Old School Breaks, but enjoy some of the new stuff too. I live in New Orleans and grew up in the 80's, so Hip-Hop was and still is a big part of my life. I generally stick to EDM (particularly breaks) when DJ'n, but every now and then, I'll throw a little E-Hop in.
You will never hear ANY Dub-Step and very little House in my sets (not knocking either, but they're just not my style).
To NuOrleanz Phatz for keeping it real and encouraging me - he's helped me out so much in moving forward with this . . .
To my long-time friend, and inspiration, Jason "MC Jay" Sensebe for giving me my first opportunnity to perform live in front of a crowd - good looking out brother! You know "I can't stop, won't stop rockin for ya Non-Stop!" . . .
To my boy Tekna Tronik and his label Teknatronikbreaks Digital Label for helping promote me . . .
To DJ IRate for the bomb ass logo he created for me and all the dope flyers he continues to create for me and everyone I send to him!
And a VERY special thank you to all the HATERZ for driving me to be the best I can at everything in life - including DJ'n! The more you hate, the more I continue to spit out dope ass mixes for the world to dance and party to! LMMFAO!!!
DJ Beat Boy, Doc Watson, Dirty Boy Mike, Rick West, and all the other DJs who inspired me but are no longer here with us to see my work.
