Moisture Podcast 005
Born on August 21th 1983 in Bucharest, Cristian Vulpe aka Heyos, inherits the passion for music and DJ-ing from his father who was also a DJ in the 70's. He grew up with music and at the age of 14 he discovered for the first time electronic music. Short time after that he realises that DJ-ing is what he desires to do in life, and started, from the age of 18, to learn by himself, stealing from what he saw other DJ's doing. For a small period of time he practices at a tiny local club, going on to become resident at some little clubs. In 2007 he begins to work very seriously in this direction and manages to play beside many great romanian DJ's of the moment, at afterhours partys. His music approaches styles such as house, deep house and techno with influences of Detroit , Chicago , Oldschool , Groovy and Funky.

Short unterview from Heyos for [moisture] team:
- Tell me, how you choose a name for your project – “Heyos” and why?
I was in a difficulty of choosing a name, so a friend sent me one picture containing some words written in a language, wich i still don't know what it was. He told me using letters from that pic to form a word that characterizes me, so i formed the word Heyos, because it's sends you to the ancient greek sun divinity Helios( i love the sun ) and makes a connection to things that i try to express, happiness, love and so on.
- Every musician has his own style. How you can describe your?
I could say that one word "flow" is a good word for my style as regarding the music genres i approach what i like from house, techno, deep house, minimal house, dub techno and many more, in one saying "various artists electronica".
- Okey. Do you using sounds from street or nature?
I believe music is everywhere around us, so as long as it sounds good, i will use it, no matter what the source is, streets, factories, etc.
- What you think about soundscapes recordings and how do you use it?
For now no, but i will do it in the future. I believe that with the inspiration and the appropriate tools you have unlimited ways to make new and more new sounds. I do love nature and the sound of it and promise to honor it properly in the future.
- Please describe your plans for the future? Tell what we can wait in close time from you...
My plans for the future are, production and to release, i'm working on something now, not in a hurry, i want it to be good and hopefully more international appearances.
- Nice! What music sounds when you're not at work? At home, as example.
I grew up with music all around me since is a passion that runs in the family so i listened and still do old music starting with Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode also downtempo, chillout and nevertheless the music that i play and discovered it like 14 years ago, depends on the mood. Artists that are close to me in electronic music i will say some of them: Mike Huckaby, Anton Zap, Rhadoo, Zip, Ricardo Villalobos and many more.
- Do you remeber your first steps like a DJ? How it happened?
Into music i got since i was a kid, being the DJ to all the parties my friends had, the contact with DJ-ing in a club happened around the age of 18th. About writing something down i can say i started like two months back, i had some previous attempts but nothing came out of them. I believe now i have the necessary music culture to make something on my own after years of playing and listening to music.
- What device and software you’re using to create your composition?
For now i use software, keyboard and a midi controller and hope soon i will manage to add some analog instruments to the setup.
- Do you need a certain mood to start making music? Or you start to write tracks only if you have a clear motive in the idea and concept?
In my case yes, i mean when i feel inspired i start working, i don't want it to be like a forced process, because i think the creation process should go like this.
