- About Mix Major (located at 465 Herndon Pkwy, Herndon, VA 20170) -
At Mix Major, kids, teens, and adults learn how to create their own music using digital music technology, regardless of their ability (or desire) to play a traditional instrument, sing, or perform in front of an audience.
Unlike traditional music education programs, which focus on the performance of an already-written piece of music, Mix Major’s programs focus on creativity and music composition. Students make their own music based on their own interests.
This creative process is called Music Production, and with a few exceptions, it's not being taught anywhere in our kids' school music programs: elementary, middle, or high school.
Through Music Production, students of all ages build confidence and self-esteem while developing life-long skills in creativity, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration...all while having fun.
Mix Major’s programs for kids and teens include weekly classes, summer and day camps, birthday parties, and school assemblies for as many as 400-500 students at a time.
Mix Major also creates and publishes free educational videos on Teacher TV. These videos are designed specifically to help public and private school music educators learn and teach Music Production. Teachers all over the world have been using these videos to creating a lasting impact on their students.
Originally focused on young people, Mix Major now offers programs for adults in the form of Weekly Classes and Team Building Workshops.
Mix Major was founded by Eric Jao (aka DJ Enferno), whose credits include Madonna, Shakira, & Cirque Du Soleil. Eric, father of two, is a Northern, VA native, TJ grad, UVA McIntire School of Commerce Alum.
