Pizzle (feat. Jacques My Beats) by Chadder Box published on 2012/10/09 23:50:55 +0000 Alcoholism. Roughly 7 years ago my very loud, awkwardly intense, and incredibly dear homie "Pizzle" put bicycle racing, his vegan diet, and most his friendships aside as he fell back into a lifestyle that's followed him since childhood. Gulp. I still remember the day he asked me to join him for a steak and a beer... It's been one helluva heartbreaking ride since. In a contest of "bottoms" (not the Sir Mixalot kind), my homie is a true winner. Personally, I kinda let homedude go years ago. He's burned me soooo many times. But, I keep answering his calls. Keep trying to provide some level of support. And keep remembering how awesome HE WAS. A couple months ago, after being told by his doc that it's an anomaly he's still alive (high fives for being resilient. I guess all that bike riding was worth more than just a couple free, and very delicious, Clif Bars), I took Pizzle to detox (it's actually not this easy, the patient's gotta call a hotline every morning at a certain time, cross their fingers like a muddafudda, and show up on time to claim their "bed." Three very tricky things for a drunk dude to do). After detox came treatment. Something he was sent home from for being an apparent health risk (yeah, his heart's THAT big). Anyway, as many of my friends here on fb also know Pizzle, please know that something recently changed. Despite being sent home, he's got 2 amazing weeks of sobriety under his king size belt. I'm surprised. I kinda thought he'd be dead by now. Lastly, here's a song I wrote the weekend prior to his detox visit. I recorded it last night. The entire thang could be summed up in the 3 words I repeat a couple times 2:57 into the tune. Massive THANKS to the very talented Jacques Lamarsh for the gorgeous beat. Your skills are sooooo appreciated.
