*Misa West Autobiography*
Jamaica is one of the country's smallest parishes in the county of Middlesex. It’s chief town and capital is Port Maria, located on the coast and it is also the birthplace of established dancehall reggae artistes, Capleton, Lady Saw, Ninja Man, Sizzla and Tanya Stephens.
Upcoming Reggae artiste Misa West was born and raised in Islington, St. Mary. He became fascinated with the art of writing and performing songs from watching ‘the big guns’ perform, peeping through “zinc holes at Bamboo Lawn as a youth.” Zinc would be used as perimeter fencing at Bamboo Lawn, the infamous venue in the parish known to many for staging major events. Misa West grew up playing drums at church but found out that such duty coincided with his, “Sunday cricket games.” He recalled getting, “pinched” by some of the elderly women who attended his church whenever he was absent along with sentiments such as “you were not in church today to play for us we really missed you.”
Misa West left Islington, and became a member of the civil service group of Jamaica when he joined the Fire Brigade. His love for music stayed with him so he decided to merge both his professional and music careers. Now a Fire-Fighter/Entertainer, Misa West has already released a couple of songs. His most successful single entitles, “Heartless” from the Album “It Nuh Fair” Which entered the iTunes top 100 chart in Finland. The album was produced by his management company, CR3 Records. The song It Nuh fair a social commentary song from the same Album stirred a bit of controversy upon its release. The lyrics suggest that Mr West is defending the rights of all civil servants. When asked if this was so, Misa West said that he writes about things happening around him but was quick to point out that the issues to which he sing about “are on-going no matter which Government, present or past.” A video for, ‘It Nuh Fair’ is currently in rotation which some TV and Cable stations reframe from showing due to their political affiliations. Family Fun Day" alongside artist like: George Nooks, Shane O, Apache Chief and Sargent, Rum-head and Grandfather and son. Misa West recently performed on "CVM at Sunrise" just to name a few.
