Wake The White Wolf (Audiophile Remaster) by miracleofsound published on 2015-04-11T14:36:25Z This version of the song has no loudness war mastering compression. I made it to show fans the difference and how having a large dynamic range makes the music sound clearer, more exiting and just all round better! Yes - it's much quieter. So use your volume knob and turn it up to the same volume as the album version and play them back to back. Pay particular attention to the drums and percussion, how they thump & punch much harder in this version. Notice the music has so much more space, more air, more clarity in all instruments. You'll hopefully instantly hear the difference! Also, this has nothing to do with file size/format compression. It's to do with dynamic audio limiting compression applied at the mastering stage. This version really takes advantage of the soundstage my headphones are capable of. (Not sure if I'm using this term correctly?), either way, it just sounds so much more open and clear than the album one. I love it. Any chance of these going up on bandcamp? Keep rocking on Gav <3 2015-04-14T00:58:58Z Comment by riana22 This is what I call folk music 2015-04-13T19:57:04Z Comment by Christiaan Janse Noordwyk Goosebumps all over..mmmm 2015-04-13T09:43:59Z Comment by miracleofsound @braxton-senson: If you've heard other music do it, then it's music that has retained it's dynamic range, just like these. 2015-04-12T11:00:40Z Comment by miracleofsound @harlesaro: I did play a lot of the instruments in this one. Only the orchestra strings parts and some of the percussion are programmed. I taught myself bouzouki for it though, haha 2015-04-12T10:50:52Z Comment by mfurb Huh, turns out I didn't need 300$ headphones after all. Compression was the culprit! 2015-04-12T07:38:55Z Comment by Jessica Osborne Wow. I listened to this and at first it didn't feel different-- then I went back and popped on the other one and it felt so much... thinner. This is amazing. And this is bar none my favorite song. <3 You rule at these folk numbers, Gav. 2015-04-12T03:49:28Z Comment by Ingunn Gravem Gawds I'd buy it all, Gav. There's so much more detail to it! 2015-04-11T20:55:55Z Comment by Braxton Senson There has to be a way to have louder percussion in the album version. So much other music has done it without sounding too bad. I say that as someone with little technical knowledge of how music is made. Anyone care to enlighten me? 2015-04-11T19:58:38Z Comment by Charles Saro The first few seconds of the song I can already hear the difference, everything is so much clearer, I kid you not if I had no idea you made most of the instrumental through a program I'd have thought you played each one individually. Holy shit Gav this is just even more awesome than the first time I listened to both versions of the song. Keep doin what you do you glorious bastard! Can't wait to hear more! \m/ 2015-04-11T19:13:51Z Comment by X2-Elijah Ah. The drums sound amazing here. 2015-04-11T19:12:48Z Comment by Six Holy damn this is incredible, We need more songs like this! 2015-04-11T18:59:53Z Comment by nanaki422 This sounds so much better, would it possible to get versions of these for the albums you'v released previously(if it isn't too much work) 2015-04-11T17:13:01Z
