It´s a new dawn. It´s a new day.
No matter what you choose to call it, EDM, dance or dancemusic, we are heading down a new path with this movement.
The change from being the bastardchild of the music industry to the worldwide powerhouse it is today happened so fast
most of us didn´t even realize it happened.
Despite my "young" age of 26, I´ve been in this business almost 10 years.
Before fireworks and millions of watts of lazer. Before cakes in the face, rubberboats and gigantic festivalproductions.
Way before CDJ2000´s and walking around with your whole music library on an USB-stick.
Even though I’m far from a heavyweight in this business and just a drop in the ocean of talented producers and DJ´s out there,
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, THIS is the time to embrace how far we´ve come.
When I say we, I mean everyone who helps this business move forward in a positive way.
Buying tickets, writing blog-entries, downloading music, running labels, sneaking EDM-tracks in at your Top-40 gig.
No matter what you do, no matter if your a trancehead or a wobble-addicted dubstep-freak, a Harlem Shaker with an urge to
run the trap or a mainstage frontrow all-eater, Thank you all for having our back and helping us be what we are.
For me, giving back is a high priority. No matter how you choose to do it, RT a tweet, answer a fan-mail on Souncloud,
throw your headphones in the crowd or tell them you love them on the mic, giving back to the people who support you,
who put you up there on that stage should be high up on your to-do list.
After all, you guys are the reason why we are up here in the first place.
This track called "Panorama" of mine is by far one of the most sought after records I’ve ever produced. "Panorama" was produced
on my laptop, on an airport floor (there was a powerjack on the wall) on my way home from a very memorable festival last summer.
High off the energy from the festival the day before, the track kinda wrote itself in just a few hours. Felt like somewhat of a collab
with the whole dancefloor from the day before. I first played this to the public when i took over Tiësto´s (shameless namedropping)
Musical Freedom Radio last year. All the positive reactions on this track made me think about what else you could do around the
release to make it special, to make the fans feel that their support was the foundation for this track. To give something back for all
the smiles they gave me via Twitter, Soundcloud, Facebook and every other way.
So i decided the only way to do this release justice, was to give it back to the people who made this record happen, the fans.
Some of you will like it, some won´t.
In the end that doesn't really matter, cause in the end, if this one didn't grab you, I’m sure someone elses track will.
And that’s the beauty of dancemusic. There’s something in there for everyone.
