Tamayrr Salahuddin, aka Mic Hunter D, was born in Grand Rapids, MI, during the mid 1980s. At a younger age Tamayrr was exposed to many different sounds of music, due to his father being a dj. Tamayrr grew up listening to many of the old Motown groups of the 60s and funk bands of the 70s, But it was the influence of emerging rap in the late 80s that grabbed Tamayrrs attention.

MicHunter.D started rapping at the age of 15. Heavily influenced by the early Wu Tang artist and movies, Tamayrr took on the name Mic Hunter D, which was given to him by his older brother and producer Tony Salahuddin aka Tone Chambers. The name Hunter D comes from the Japanese animation movie Vampire Hunter D. Mic Hunter D is often the topic of discussion in the underground hip hop world because of his skills as an M.C. and his unique unorthodox style and delivery
