Leeds
Dreamwave-synthpop inspired by the sea, snowscapes, time, memory, nature/culture, love, loss & nostalgia. Formed in remotely in lockdown in Leeds, UK.
Lines of Flight are Matthew Henderson and Helen Whale. They are a dreamwave / synthpop / electro-folk duo.
March 2020: Locked down, in terraced houses on opposite sides of Leeds, 2 strangers connect and started collaborating. They record the songs using only iPhone handsets & headphones; physically separated but concerted in purpose. Lines of Flight haven't played together, let alone put on a show. There are no photos; with little to nothing known or written about them. Yet 1 year on, using minimal tech, they have 10 tracks, ready for release. The duo are named after the work of Deleuze and Guattari: Bolts of pent up energy that break through the cracks in a system of control and shoot off on the diagonal. They reveal the open spaces beyond the limits of what exists. Constrained by necessity, limited by circumstance, but urgent with focus and intent. Their connection is resounding and potent, filled with power and portent.
MH|HW Music Ltd. released "Birthing Bell" on the 5th of March, 2021 and are now on track 7, "Between the Avenues".
