It's been a MONTH. Yes! We were so excited to have Sarah give some perspective on the situation re: colonial descent/Punjabi dominance in popular Indian media. And thank you for this further perspective as well! We love hearing about background info like this, especially in how it informs media <3 2019-11-14T18:39:23Z Comment by ThreeTailedFox reminds me of the Puritan pilgrims (were they Puritan? or prodistant?) 2019-09-27T10:04:05Z Comment by Anissa / maharanis Honestly I'm a little surprised more South Asians aren't into Star Wars (at least the Skywalker Saga) bc it really has it ALL like Shi mentioned (except the song & dance #s) - inherited deep family issues/focus, romance (in all 3 trilogies!), action/adventure/fantasy/melodrama...(although on a serious note India was a bit more isolationist re: Western media in the time that the OT came out whereas I have noticed a lot of people my age or my parents age from South Asia are more invested in HP or Marvel). 2019-09-26T14:29:24Z Comment by Anissa / maharanis (Sarah brings up good points re: colonial descent / Punjabi dominance in popular Indian media. But also - India is made up of SO MANY different states/regions/ethnic groups/different language families even. It's a broad culture made up of hundreds of different unique cultures. More conservative Indians even today prefer if their kids marry within the same community (Punjabi-Punjabi) but things have changed in more liberal circles and esp. in diaspora circles at least from my experience.) 2019-09-25T23:17:43Z Comment by Anissa / maharanis Fawad Khan really IS one of the most gorgeous South Asian men out there *cue heart beating out of my chest* 2019-09-25T23:00:36Z Comment by Anissa / maharanis (I would def love a saltfest episode about the Victorians if any of you ladies are interested lmao) 2019-09-25T22:27:04Z Comment by Anissa / maharanis Thanks Sarah for suggesting this topic...it's so near & dear to my heart <3 2019-09-25T22:16:53Z
