Mortem - Iceberg by Metalheadz published on 2012/12/06 12:36:51 +0000 Having had an incredible year already with singles from D-Bridge, Commix, Jubei & Flowdan, Lenzman and label boss Goldie, Metalheadz go all out with yet another impressive instalment of their ‘Genesis’ EP series. Dropping four heavy tracks, this one will definitely be at the forefront of the D&B elite’s playlists this winter. First up Mortem delivers ‘Iceberg’ a hauntingly chilly piece of music with echoed vocal snippets, crisp two-stepping breaks, cavernous sound effects and a shifting slab of bass. All the elements combine effortlessly in Mortem’s hands as he crafts each moment with expert precision. FD kicks down your front door and runs away with your prized possessions as he drops ‘Break & Enter’ – a chunky bass-weight track that sounds immense when played loud. This one will undoubtedly shake the bass bins of any club you care to drop it in. Next up Prolix shows a slightly deeper side to his sound with winding Reese bass combinations and tight drums that roll endlessly across a grizzling background atmosphere. ‘What You Need’ must be a punch in the gut with Prolix’ sub bass! Rounding off the EP come Quadrant & Iris who team up on ‘Anthropocene’. Leading you in with a gentle intro with two step beats and far away pads you’re quickly drawn into a much grimier and heavier world as soon as the bassline drops. This is an impeccably produced and expertly hand-picked selection of the best drum & bass around; something you have always come to expect from Metalheadz.
