Copycat - Just My Imagination Talking (snippet) by MB DISCO published on 2013-01-21T11:05:28Z There are quite a few Copycat’s around, but only one that truly keeps the standards high. The one I’m talking about is fellow Swede, Ivan Matanovic. Those of you who follow MB Disco’s every step, know that we did a release with Copycat back in March this year. Now it’s time for the follow up. A 3 track EP with a joint mood theme, but different executions. We can call it Nu-Disco for every moment. First out is the 109 BPM slow funky subliminal chugger, “Can You Feel It”. It sets the feeling of this EP with its melodic piano riff. We see this being played at a lot of pool parties around the globe. Second out is the even slower, “Just My Imagination Talking”. Once again the piano plays the major part together with its dreamish-anthemic feeling. Last, but least, “It’s Like A Dream” comes in at a shocking 116 BPM. Due to Copycat’s age, nothing goes beyond the magic 120 BPM tempo these days (editor’s mark!). Anyway, another great moment that presents Copycat’s skills in making anthemic tunes that twist our soulful minds. Copycat is one of the masterminds of the superblog www.audioporncentral.com, voted the 2nd best music blog in the world at the prestigious BT Digital Awards in 2010. Originally, a leading name in the bastard/bootleg scene, with numerous mash-up hits being played by both leading radio stations and dj:s around the world, the past few years have seen Copycat branching out and venturing into the fields of remixing and producing. He’s collaborated with and produced quite a few heavy hitters in that time, including Giorgio Moroder, Billie Ray Martin & Stephen Mallinder, Lena Katina/TATU, and a wide number of hot rising nu-disco acts, such as Kasper Bjørke, Golden Bug, Sare Havlicek and more. Both on his own and with MB Disco label boss, Martin Brodin.
