Spartan Music by Mau Gris published on 2013/07/26 16:43:39 +0000 I was out in one of the more bleak patrol bases (Patrol Base Sparta) with Si Longworth, an Army Photographer. We had been at the camp for a few hours and I was relaxing in the shade when Si came running up to me saying he had found something. He brought me round to a couple of soldiers sat in the Afghan dust. One had a guitar and was just messing around with it. It amazed me first how clean he kept his guitar, but also how the music in that setting was that much more powerful. I have kept it as unedited as I could and you will probably here Si’s camera going off and the chatting as well as a couple of the false starts that he made but I just really enjoyed the music. If you want to look at some of the pictures that Si took whilst we were there, click here.
