mattgouck matt gouck belfast Matt Gouck hails from a sleepy town in Northern Ireland where his passion for electronic music was awakened from listening to the progressive sounds of the late 90s and early 2000s. Matt was instantly drawn to the deeper and more moody feel of this music really which captured his imagination and young keen ear. Before going digital Matt started out on Technics 1210’s, he learned how to mix professionally at the school for promising electronic talent ‘Sonic Academy’, where many of Northern Ireland’s best artists attended. His first live gig came at aged 20 and aswell as playing in numerous clubs around the country and thanks to promoter and resident Col Hamilton, he got the chance to play in one of the longest running weekly super clubs in the UK, and the most famous club in Ireland, ‘the mighty’ LUSH in Portrush. Unlike a lot of the current up and coming talent in Northern Ireland who find themselves in the house, techno or trance scene, Matt has stayed true to a sound that may not be not always the most popular but progressive music is where his heart lyes and it was a more organic path rather than a major decision to stick with this style. His love of the journey within a set was best suited to prog, its where he gets his kicks, where he feels at home, mixing funky to chunky, lighter and darker to more uplifting sounds. Across the progressive spectrum Matt Gouck’s main inspirations are Eric Prydz, Jeremy Orlander, Sasha and Digweed. Alongside DJing, Matt has spent many years honing his production skills on his preferred music software programme Abelton and is now ready to share his own music with the world. With his first EP signed and ready to go the next chapter is under way for Matt Gouck and this journey DJ and producer in every sense of the word is ready to shine.
