The Matt Ragsdale/CityLine Trio is a collaborative effort of three longtime NYC musicians from widely diverse musical backgrounds, committed to exploring jazz in a small group setting.
Having played his first gig at age 13, he was hooked on a career in music from an early age. After graduating from Emory University at age 20 he moved to NYC in 1987 to attend Manhattan School of Music. Career Highlights include an NEA Chamber Music Grant, televised performances at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, also with Idina Menzel and Il Divo at the US Open in Flushing Meadows, as well as stints with The Four Tops, Temptations and Fabulous DuPrees. He has played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Hammerstein Ballroom amongst many others. Equally at home in many different musical worlds, he also maintains an extensive teaching schedule as well as composing and arranging for a variety of different groups.
A Graduate of Hartt College of Music as a classical guitar major, Howard Post taught in the jazz studies department of Hartt College for five years, under the direction of famed alto saxophonist Jackie McLean. Howard moved to NYC in 1985, where in addition to playing in a variety of jazz music ensembles and teaching music, he has a project studio where he composes, records, and mixes music for a wide array of individual and corporate clients.
Yoshi currently lives in Brooklyn and plays and tours with various groups in the city. Appearance includes some of the major venues and well known club in the city such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Blue Note, and the Knitting Factory. Yoshi has performed with Artie Shaw Orchestra, George Benson, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Gary Burton, Jimmy Cobb, Dan Zanes and Friends, Deborah Harry,, John Lithgow, Joe Lovano, Bill Mobley, Ben Monder, John Scofield, Richard Stoltzman, Suzanne Vega, Bill Ware Vibes, Frank Wess, Phil Wilson, and Chihiro Yamanaka.
Notable recording credits include Catch that Train! (Dan Zanes and Friends), which won the 49th Annual Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children, and After Hours (Chihiro Yamanaka), which won the 23rd Japan Gold Disc Award for Jazz Album of the Year.
