Kze-U (Martin Hoogeboom/Theo Calis) by Martin Hoogeboom published on 2016-02-04T11:58:53Z Kze-U or Kse-U means ‘mourn’ in the language of the Baka. The Baka People, known in the Congo as Bayaka (Bebayaka, Bebayaga, Bibaya), are hunter-gatherers inhabiting the southeastern rain forests of Cameroon, northern Republic of Congo, northern Gabon, and southwestern Central African Republic. In recent years, deforestation of the tropical forest has greatly increased. For example, some deforestation projects have been initiated in order to procure palm oil which is heavily found within the confines of the forest. Deforestation impacts the Baka as the forest is their home. These deforestation projects can be extremely detrimental to the Baka as they will be destroying the environment on which they so heavily rely. http://www.baka.co.uk/baka/index.html http://www.1heart.org/ This soundscape is our contribution to awareness and a tribute to a vanishing culture. A drop in the ocean, but nevertheless a drop. This is a revised version of one that appeared earlier on the 2015 Christmas compilation of Petroglyph Music. https://petroglyphmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-xmas-compilation-2015 Genre Soundscape Comment by Boson Spin So many wonderful sounds in this track - love it! 2017-03-02T09:56:53Z Comment by Martin Hoogeboom @tuonela-1: Thanks for listening & comment Tuonela!! 2016-02-22T10:51:50Z Comment by Martin Hoogeboom @ed-trum-ped: Thanks for listening Ed!! 2016-02-22T10:47:28Z Comment by Martin Hoogeboom @musicaserj: Thanks!! 2016-02-22T10:47:12Z Comment by Martin Hoogeboom @takeout-music: Thanks!!
