Linea Materna by Maros Rovnak published on 2022-04-29T13:26:30Z Linea Materna is soundtrack music I made for my group performance entitled In Absentia / Mother Line. The work is dedicated to the memory of Martina Kušnírová (1990 – 2018). In absentia / The Mother Line connects elements of movement theater, recited text and sound art and is an abstract meditation on the loss of a loved one and an allusion to ancient mourning rituals, which were the sovereign domain of women and the only platform that indirectly allowed them to participate in political decision-making. In Slovak, the Mother Line is a term used in beekeeping practice and refers to the breeding of queen bees with specific characteristics. This project has been supported using public funds provided by Slovak Arts Council.
