Pemulwuy by Marlene Cummins Music published on 2015-06-02T02:56:18Z Marlene Cummins wrote this song to thank the Eora people for embracing her on their country. It honours the great Eora warrior and lawman, Pemulwuy, who fought for the rights of his people and evaded capture for 12 years. He was finally captured and beheaded. His head was shipped off to a museum in Britain. Marlene was part of a contingent of elders that petitioned directly to Prince William to help repatriate the warrior's remains. She also performed in his honour at the recent plaque unveiling commemorating Pemulwuy as one of the defining figures in Australian history at the National Museum. Genre indigenous
